To all relevant organizations:
To implement the Action Plan for Carbon Dioxide Peaking Before 2030 issued by the State Council, and in accordance with the specific goals and requirements of the Implementation Plan for Establishing a Carbon Footprint Management System, it is crucial to accelerate the establishment of a carbon footprint management system, build a green and low-carbon supply chain, promote the development of new quality productive forces, and support the achievement of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. In this context, the accounting of product carbon footprints is of vital importance.
Since early 2024, the China Rubber Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as CRIA) has organized experts from key enterprises in the industry and set up a working group consisting of more than 20 enterprises to carry out the research project Study on Carbon Footprint of Tire Products. Aiming at carbon emission reduction in the tire industry, the expert team conducted in-depth research, held exchanges and discussions with experts from upstream and downstream industries, and finally completed the compilation of the Guidelines for Carbon Footprint Accounting of Tire Products.
As a guiding document for carbon footprint accounting of tire products in the industry, the Guidelines specify the accounting scope and methodologies, standardize the specific rules and requirements for product carbon footprint quantification and information exchange, and provide implementation pathways for industrial carbon emission reduction.
After more than two years of efforts, CRIA organized six online and offline seminars. Following the procedures of project initiation, drafting, public consultation, preliminary review and others, the final version of the Guidelines for Carbon Footprint Accounting of Tire Products has been formulated and is hereby issued.
